Terms of Use

Last updated: June 9, 2026

By using Road Whispers, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any condition, do not use the app.

1. About the app

Road Whispers is an audio app for road trips. It uses the device location to identify nearby cities, towns, or areas available in the catalog and play short content about those places.

The purpose of the app is to provide an informational, cultural, and recreational experience. It is not a navigation, safety, emergency, driving, traffic, or road guidance tool.

2. Safe use while driving

The user must always prioritize safety, follow traffic laws, and keep full attention on driving.

While driving, the app should be used passively, preferably with audio connected to the car system. The driver should not interact with the app while driving.

Road Whispers does not replace road signs, navigation apps, guidance from authorities, real road conditions, or the driver's judgment.

3. Location, GPS, and offline operation

The app uses GPS data only locally, on the device, to decide when to play audio. The user's location is not shared with Road Whispers, analytics tools, advertisers, or third parties.

The app is designed to work offline: catalogs, text, and audio are stored on the device or in previously downloaded packages. We do not have access to routes, coordinates, travel history, or the user's real-time location.

Operation depends on device permissions, GPS signal, operating system settings, battery state, background execution, and content availability for the region.

The app may play audio before, after, or outside the ideal point, especially in areas with imprecise location signal, border regions, tunnels, mountains, dense urban areas, or versions that use coordinate approximation.

4. User data, sync, and backup

Road Whispers does not maintain its own server with user personal data and does not have access to the user's GPS data.

To improve the experience across devices or preserve data in backup, the app may use operating-system features to sync or restore simple usage information, such as places already heard/visited, first region, and app preferences.

On iOS, this may happen through Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store. On Android, this may happen through Android Key-Value Backup or an equivalent Google account/device feature.

These features are operated by Apple or Google infrastructure and associated with the user's own account. Road Whispers does not directly receive or query that data on its own server.

The user can manage sync, backup, and permissions in the operating system settings.

5. Anonymous usage metrics

The app may collect anonymous and aggregated metrics to understand product usage, improve the experience, identify failures, and evaluate which content and catalogs are most useful.

These metrics may include events such as app opens, viewed screens, catalog downloads, audio starts, places marked as visited, and preference changes. When a metric involves a city, it may include information such as code, city name, and region.

Metrics do not include raw GPS coordinates, routes, travel history, or real-time location. Location remains local on the device and is not shared.

6. Content

The text and audio content aims to present interesting and reliable information about cities and regions, using concise language suitable for listening during trips.

Despite production care, content may contain errors, omissions, inaccuracies, outdated information, pronunciation issues, or editorial interpretations. The user should not make important decisions based only on information presented by the app.

7. Purchases and content access

The app may offer free and paid content. Some regions, packages, or features may require in-app purchase.

Prices, conditions, package availability, and access rules will be presented before purchase. Purchases made through app stores are also subject to the terms and policies of Apple, Google, or the applicable store.

8. Offline content and downloads

The user is responsible for ensuring the required content is downloaded and available on the device before traveling through areas without internet access.

Packages may use storage space and may be updated, removed, or replaced as the product evolves.

9. Intellectual property

The app, brand, interface, text, audio, content organization, catalogs, and other elements are protected by intellectual property rights unless otherwise indicated.

The user receives a limited, personal, revocable, and non-transferable license to use the app under these terms.

It is not allowed to copy, redistribute, sell, modify, bulk extract, automate collection, train models, publish, or commercially reuse app content without authorization.

10. Limitation of liability

Road Whispers is provided "as is", without warranty of continuous operation, absence of errors, permanent compatibility, location accuracy, or permanent content availability.

To the extent permitted by law, the app owners will not be responsible for losses, damages, accidents, fines, navigation failures, distractions, travel decisions, data loss, GPS failures, audio failures, package unavailability, or other harm arising from use or inability to use the app.

11. User responsibilities

The user agrees to use the app legally, safely, and responsibly.

12. Changes to the app

The app may be changed, updated, interrupted, or have features modified at any time. Content, prices, catalogs, features, and availability rules may change as the product evolves.

13. Ending use

The user may stop using the app at any time. Access to features or content may be limited or ended in case of misuse, violation of these terms, technical restriction, business change, or legal requirement.

14. Changes to these terms

These Terms of Use may be updated as the app evolves. The update date will be adjusted whenever relevant changes are made.
